[франц. isolation — отделение, разобщение; греч. protos — первый и plastos — вылепленный, образованный]растительная клетка, лишенная клеточной стенки с помощью ферментативного разрушения или механическим способом. Из И.п. возможно получение целого растениярегенеранта. Спонтанный и индуцированный мутагенез в культуре И.п. позволяет получать растения, представляющие практический интерес для селекционеров. В биотехнологии применяется также метод слияния И.п. с целью создания внутривидовых, межвидовых и межродовых гибридов, используемых для получения растений с новыми свойствами (см. соматическая гибридизация). И.п. имеет важное практическое значение для создания форм растений, устойчивых к неблагоприятному действию факторов внешней среды, таких как низкие температуры, засоление почв, загрязнение природной среды токсическими веществами, поражение вредителями и возбудителями болезней. Впервые И.п. с помощью механического способа выделил Дж. Клеркер в 1892 г.; энзиматическим способом И.п. высших растений впервые получил Э. Коккинг в 1960 г.Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
